Interactive series Guidestones, co-produced by iThentic and 3 o’clock.tv, received the Digi Award for Best Web Series: Fiction in a gala ceremony on Tuesday evening. The Digi Awards are Canada’s premier annual showcase of the remarkable companies, products and people who are making waves in the digital media industry.
“Guidestones proves that given the opportunity, audiences will engage in the storytelling process,” commented iThentic CEO Jonas Diamond “the key to successful transmedia content is choice – consumers do not want to be force-fed.”
Guidestones has already won a prestigious “Rockie” Award at the Banff World Media Festival and was just nominated for five awards at the International Academy of Web Television Awards at CES as well as Marseille Web Fest and the Geneva Film Festival . The win comes on the heels of iThentic being named the Digital Company of the Year by Canada’s entertainment trade Playback.
The iThentic/3 o’clock.tv team continue the Guidestones adventure in Season 2, currently in active development with production planned for the Spring of 2013. The linear version of Season 1 is available on Hulu and the all versions – including the interactive version – at http://www.guidestones.org.
Guidestones takes viewers deep inside the mystery of the Georgia Guidestones, a monument nestled in a farmer’s field in rural Georgia and inscribed with directions for rebuilding civilization after the apocalypse. By following clues hidden in each episode, viewers cansolve the mystery of the Guidestones, along with the main characters, in a race against time that crosses two continents and three countries.
The series was produced by 3 o’clock.tv and iThentic in association with the IPF and the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), and with help from corporate and organizational sponsors: Pizza Pizza, Coca-Cola, Samsung, Major League Baseball, Karbon, William F. White Intl. and ACTRA.
